Objects of Nostalgia, is based on the lives and work of Jane Morris and Emilie Flogue, avant-garde icons of their time and pioneers of the dress reform movement. In order to capture their spirit, I experimented with 19th century techniques of pattern cutting, and the Do It Yourself ethos of the Arts and Crafts movement by developing machine knits and exploring hand techniques such as embroideries, appliqués, and screen printing.lalalal
Layered Apron adjustable skirt: Silk jacquard, cotton twill trim. Tank top: Machine knit cotton with original motifs.
Socks: Cotton slub, hand dyed
Shift top: Wool lace, silk chiffon lining.
Faux pannier skirt: Silk blend jacquard.
Duster coat with square sleeves: Cotton tweed body, silk blend jaquard sleeves; silk chiffon lining.
Hand embroidered body and back panels.
Drapey knit top: Wool knit lace body, wool lace applique at edges; hand dyed. Paneled leggings: Doble knit cotton with inserts in multi marled cotton machine knit.
Paneled dress: Cotton machine knit top. Wool gauze skirt panels. Hand dyed and screen printed. Hand embroidered detail at waist.
Socks: Cotton slub, hand dyed
Knit panel square dress: Machine knit cotton with original motifs. Cotton lace trim at edges, hand dyed.
Socks: Cotton slub, hand dyed
Circular coat: Wool crepe, self lined. Metal rivets and leather trim at closure.
